Bobby Burns - Ep027

This week Bobby Burns (Primer 55 / Soulfly) joins Scott for a chat and his life and career in music!

Primer 55, formed in Memphis in 1997, broke into a burgeoning Nu-Metal scene. In this discussion, Bobby shares how he and co-found Jason "J-Sin" Luttrell met and formed the band. The combination of rap and metal got the band attention quickly. Bobby talks about the influence of bands such as Korn and Helmet and how they affected the sound of Primer 55.

The album 'Introduction to Mayhem' would yielded tours with bands such as Dope, Biohazard, Slipknot and resulted with a slot on the Ozzfest tour.

In this chat, Bobby talks about how the album came together as well as how they landed the Ozzfest tour.

From there, the band would go on to put out The New Release, which would differ greatly from the first album. Most notably, Burns would be on lead vocals. In this episode, he shares the story behind the making of the album.

Bobby's turbulent relationship with J-Sin is discussed in this episode as well as his early loss in 2018 at age 40.

Other topics include his stint playing bass in Soulfly, Love Said No, leaving Soulfly to raise a family, the reformation of Primer 55, picking on Joshua Toomey, Primer 55 merch and more!

We hope you enjoy Scott's talk with Bobby Burns and SHARE with a friend!
